Draft Front Cover and Content Page

The reason for doing a mock content and front cover, is to get a understanding for how the magazine will flow and how the text will work together, using ideas in the mock designs give a good understanding of the layout, colour and images, this means I would be able to experiment on ideas, before I go straight ahead and do my music magazine.

A music magazine is different to a college magazine, but the same principle stands, i.e. even though the images and text is different, the layout will stand, it might be slightly changed because of the integration of a new image, but the design should show some slight resemblance with the similar effects used.

The front cover, has integrated the use of a the masthead been behind the models head, which is a better way of showing a image, and not disturbing the quality of the magazine, because if it looked like the image was the ‘background’ and everything else in front of the image, will distort and effect the quality and professionalism of the magazine. This is why only one text is been layered on top of the model, and this text specifically represents the image, so it seems right to put the text on the model, and as research has shown, many magazines do this and works with good effect.

The font which is used in the magazine are very simple and easy to read, I didn’t want to have a font with effects on it for the text as it would become hard to read, and as its the main text and information of the magazine, hard text to read would put of customers, regardless if the content of the text was good.

A draft content page has been used to analyse the layout, and if it was a good idea to have the design the way it was or have a basic style where most of the text has been boxed off, so having a flowing magazine, which i different to most magazines, will help differentiate this magazine from all the rest. I will go ahead with this style for my main magazine content page, I just have to get the right image to use.
